Membership

Hi everyone (or is that all 1 of you that reads this?)
2012 membership fees are now due for payment so please can you contact Sharon Bond and hand over your hard earned cash! I believe that the annual form filling exercise is no longer necessary so the process should be a little less onerous. I am not sure but I imagine Sharon will be attending nippers over the next few weeks to give you the opportunity to pay. For the first tme in several the club house lock has been changedso you need to pay Sharon in order to get a new key.
As I mentioned before, you need to find a new chairman as I will be standing down at the next AGM, if not before. Any volunteers?

Winter 2011

Ok, so winter is really upon us now, it's almost Christmas!  As is usual at this time of year the club is used by only a small number of hardy surfers. As is also usually the case at this time of year, the interior of the building never really gets a chance to dry out. This results in the place becoming even more damp, mouldy and generally grim than usual. I know that this is unavoidable to a certain extent but it could certainly be minimised with a little care.
If all members who do not use the club during the winter months could take their kit home it would be a big help. There is a large quantity of unused, smelly, rotting, damp westuits, wetsuit boots, gloves, rash vests etc that seem to be a permanent fixture in the club. If none of this is claimed I propose we throw it all away on 1st January. In order to make it easier to do a proper 'deep' clean in the club it would also be appreciated if you could remove any unused surfboards or other equipment during the winter time.
There are also various things that need doing internally such as:
  • Construction and fitting of new sink unit and cupboards
  • Maintenance and possible replacement of sections of rotted ceiling
  • Proper Spring clean
  • VOLUNTEERS?
It seems that the club cleaning is only ever carried out by a small minority of members. This would seem to be rather unfair so please can everyone who uses the club please make a bit of effort to keep the place clean and tidy up when necessary.  A source of constant annoyance is the rubbish bin being filled up but with no bin bag lining it. Once it begins to overflow, it does just that until somebody (usually the same 2 or 3 people) bag it up and dispose of it.
It's your club so please treat it as such.

That's it, rant over. Oh yeah, if anyone fancies taking over as Chairperson say 'aye' because I'm out of here due to lack of time and lack of involvement in the club due to other commitments.
The club is a valuable asset for the parish and needs looking after.

Adios

Pat

Surf Club AGM Rearranged

OK, Sharon can't make this Thursday for the AGM. If everybody is in agreement can we make it this Saturday 16th July at 7:30 in The Coombe Barton. It's so difficult to get everybody together with the busy lives we all lead but we can't keep cancelling it. Comments please a.s.a.p.

Monday, 30 May 2011

Allan Birt requested that I post this to make you all aware of the rules. It states the 'Conditions for Using the Beach Area 2011' as agreed between Mark Parnall and The Parish Council.

St. Gennys Parish Council,

Legion Hall, St Gennys, Bude, EX23 0NS.

Crackington Haven

Conditions for Using the Beach Area 2011

The majority of the beach area at the Haven is Common Land, and, as such, activities upon it are regulated by Act of Parliament. The entire beach area is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), protected under further Government legislation. To ensure that these regulations are adhered to, the following conditions now apply. This makes the whole Beach a Pedestrian-Only Area and allows enjoyment of it without the proximity of motor vehicles. There are also safety and insurance factors.

All motor-powered vehicles and bicycles are covered by these regulations.

The ‘Beach Area’ comprises the Beach (the intertidal area), the upper Beach (the littoral land), and the Surf Club area.

1. Organisations using the Upper Beach and the Surf Club Area for Fundraising Activities.

Vehicles are allowed onto the area only to unload and load. During the fundraising activity all vehicles are to be parked in the available car parks.

The bollard restricting access to the south side of the Beach is to be in position at all times vehicles are not passing.

2. Those Launching Boats.

Vehicles and trailers being used for launching boats must not be parked on the Beach area. After launching vehicles and trailers must be parked in the available car parks.

The bollard conditions in 1. also apply here.

3. Marriages

Please contact the Pariah Clerk for notification of dates.

4. Parking

There are no circumstances when vehicles are to be allowed to park on the access to the north ramp side, except 1) Those owners with legal rights to park and have access & 2) In the case of an emergency.

5. Beach Parties – Please ensure you remove all your rubbish from the beach and dispose of the glass waste in the bins. If there are any problems with Beach Parties please contact either the Parish Clerk 01840 230141 or Jane Anderson (Beach Portfolio Holder) 01840 230504. Please BBQ considerately and cover any hot stones where your tray has been standing. Children have severely burned their feet on hot stones after tray removal. Please dispose of your tray by taking it home with you. DO NOT put it in the plastic refuse bins (you could start a fire) unless it is completely cold!.

6. Lifeguards are requested to kindly park otherwise than on the beach. The Parish Council will reserve 2 spaces for your use and issue you with a Parking Permit. We value our Lifeguards – they are a great asset to our Parish, but we regret are unable to permit you to park in the sandpit area by the surf club.

Failure to comply with these regulations will result in permission for future activities being reviewed.
